What is Microneedling?

It has also been successfully applied to the indication of hair restoration in cases of alopecia.

How Does It Work?

Microneedling creates small programmed and controlled gentle micro-damage in the skin. Our skin receives the stimuli and reacts to the micro-injury by initiating the healing process, stimulating the production of collagen and elastin.

To begin with, your practitioner will assess your skin requirements and concerns before the treatment commences. Once this is done, the micro needling device will be applied over your skin, puncturing it with 1300 channels into the skin every second. By carefully causing these tiny punctures to your skin, we trigger a healing process that rejuvenates the skin, encouraging collagen production, and reducing the appearance of lines, wrinkles and imperfections.

A special cocktail of serums is then chosen to further enhance the results of your treatment, depending on what your skincare needs are.

Are There Any Possible Side Effects?

Side effects are rare, and on the occasions that they do occur, they shouldn’t last for more than 48 hours. Patients commonly notice some redness post-procedure (similar to sunburn), but this should subside in a short time.

Other adverse effects can include, scarring, infection, trigger herpes simplex (in clients who suffer from cold sores). If you do have an active cold sore please aviod getting any treatments.

How About Aftercare?

Avoid hot water, saunas, jacuzzi, swimming pool, going to the gym, household activities and unnecessary contact with the treated area for 48 hours after treatment. High factor SPF is essential for 14 days post procedure and your practitioner may also recommend an optional soothing cream for your skin post-treatment.

How Long Will It Take?

The skin needling session itself lasts for around 20 minutes (although this may vary depending on which part of the body is treated. For instance, any body treatment will take more time than a facial treatment.)

How Many Treatments Will I Need?

Results are visible following 6 weeks after your initial appointment. For best results, a course of 3 -8 treatments are recommended depending on your skin concerns:

Skin rejuvenation & Large Pores – 3 treatments recommended
Acne Scarring – 6 treatments recommended
Loose Skin – 6-8 treatments recommended
